Minerva Benavidez Alonzo, aged 71, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Born to Domingo Benavidez and Lorenza Abreo Rosa, Minerva was preceded in death by both her parents, sisters Adelinda and Yolanda; brothers Alfredo, Mario, Gilberto; son Juan Luis; her loving partner of 31 years, Jesus Franco; and great-grandchildren Jack, Autumn, Witten, Kailee, and Jayden.

Minerva’s life was enriched by her family, including her surviving siblings Abelardo, Eduardo, Delma, Sandra, Harvey, Lorenza, Veronica and many loving nieces and nephews. Her legacy continues through her children Yvonne, husband Manuel Cabello; Christina, husband Johnny Ramos; Maria, husband Roger Castro; and Guadalupe, husband Nathaniel Morales. She was a proud and wonderful grandmother to Lorisa; Melinda; Marcos; LeAndra, husband Jack Burcham; Jordan; Araceli; Eddie; Jocelyn; Kristofer; Dominique; Moriah; Sergio; Deven, wife Audrey; Nevaeh; Mario; Amelia; Savannah; Andrew; Michael; Amiah. She was a great-grandmother to Jonathan, Benjamin, Linkin, Madysan, Mia, Lilly, Brooklyn, Emma, Bailey, Marlene, KaylaMarie, Braelyn, Roman, and the soon-to-be-born Ariella.

Residing in Alpine, Texas, for over three decades, Minerva thrived in the company of friends and family, often found enjoying simple pleasures like drinking her morning coffee on her front porch swing, cruising around town, and soaking in tunes with her partner. Known for her humor, compassion, and her caring and serving heart, she leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and lifetime of memories. Her hobbies included sewing and crafting talents that she shared generously with others.

Minerva will be dearly missed, but her warmth and spirit will live on through the many lives she touched. Her family and friends are comforted by the memories of her loving and vivacious character.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at 3 p.m. with a Rosary following at 7 p.m. at Alpine Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Alpine, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held the following day Friday, February 7, 2025, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with burial to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery in Alpine, Texas.
