It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Socorro Aguirre Garcia of Presidio, Texas, who peacefully left us at the age of 82 on January 30, 2025, in Odessa, Texas.

Visitation was at Fabian Hall on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Rosary was at 7 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2025, until 9 p.m. at Santa Teresa de Jesus Catholic Church in Presidio, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Santa Teresa de Jesus Catholic Church with Father Mike officiating. Burial will follow at Desert Hills cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Eternity Funeral Home.

Socorro was born in El Mulato, Ojinaga, Chihuahua, to Eleno Aguirre and Manuela Gallegos de Aguirre on May 12, 1942. She went to school in Ojinaga. She married Ignacio Garcia on October, 20 1968, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua. As a homemaker, she dedicated herself to creating a loving and welcoming home for her family. Socorro was a vibrant woman known for her warmth, kindness, and zest for life. She was a constant source of love and joy to those around her. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who took great pride in cooking for her loved ones, preparing delicious meals that became the heart of family gatherings. One of Socorro’s passions was playing cards, a pastime she enjoyed immensely with her cherished friends. Many fond memories were created around the card table, where her laughter and spirited nature brought joy to all. Socorro’s ability to make others feel welcome and valued was one of her many gifts.

Socorro is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters Maria Parra of Phoenix, Arizona, and Josefina Spencer of San Jose, California; and brother Ramon Aguirre of Presidio. 

Socorro’s legacy lives on in her family, nieces, nephews, and many friends who will forever carry the love and wisdom she imparted. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ignacio; sister Maria Jesus Madrid of Las Vegas, Nevada; three sons, Jesus Ignacio (Teresa), Carlos (Carina), Alejandro (Alma Delia); and daughter Veronica Garcia, all of Odessa, Texas; seven grandchildren, Yumira (Isaac), Nattly (Keldric), Roy (Krystal), Xandria, Josue, Carlos and Andrei Ian; five great-grandchildren, Jayleen, Jazlynn and Isaac Marquez Jr., Axel Garcia, and Stella Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Roy, Josue, Carlos and Andrei Garcia, Isaac Marquez and Keldric Thomas.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Father Carlos Felipe Rodriguez for his support during this time, to her doctors and dedicated staff at Medical Center Hospital, as well express their deepest gratitude to all those who have shared their condolences, love, and support during this difficult time. Socorro’s memory will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of her company. Rest in peace, Socorro. You will be missed but never forgotten.
