FORT DAVIS — Artist, former Midland Girl Scout, and retired landscape architect Beth Francell will be at the Overland Trail Museum, 511 N Fort Street, on Tuesday, February 18, at 6 p.m. to discuss her family with the Fort Davis Historical Society — beginning with Henry Clay Espy, a name resonant with historical insights into today’s politics, his wife Rowena, and others of the famous and philanthropic Espy clan.
Francell will speak on her other entangled branch, progeny of Walter Miller, and their role in founding the Union Trading Company, the Limpia Hotel, the Scenic Loop Highway, the Fort Davis State Bank, the Limpia Banking Company, the Fort Davis Auto Company, the Jeff Davis County Library and 400 acres of dense green irrigated fields of alfalfa and sorghum amongst their dry grasslands near Valentine. All are welcome to the presentation.
