MARFA — The Marfa girls golf team was crowned champions at this week’s tournament, with standout performances from the team’s top players, Maryfer Martinez and Loretta Rivera. 

Martinez, Marfa’s number one golfer, carded a score of 97, while Rivera, the number two golfer, finished with a score of 100. Their impressive efforts helped secure the Van Horn Championship Title in the women’s division. The team now shifts its focus to the upcoming district competition, which will take place in Marfa on Monday, April 7.

Marfa Junior High tracksters shine at Bear Relays

Meanwhile, the Marfa Junior High track team had a successful outing at the Bear Relays in Balmorhea on Tuesday, bringing home several first-place medals. The varsity track team will compete in Alpine this Saturday, with schedules available on the Marfa ISD website. Under the leadership of first-year head coach Arron Luna, both teams are training hard in preparation for next week’s district championships.
