FORT DAVIS — Jeff Fisher will present to the Fort Davis Historical Society on April 15 at 6 p.m. about his family. Before Jess Cunningham Fisher moved to the Davis Mountains from Missouri in the 1890s, before Jess married Winnie Estelle Davis, Jeff’s Cherokee ancestors survived the Trail of Tears.
Jeff will tell of that great-grandfather, a Baptist minister who believed in Christ’s teachings of love for all mankind, and married a beautiful Cherokee woman. He will tell of the Fishers’ decades of hard work running their Ranch in Madera Canyon, and of their generations of contributions to our community.
The public is invited to this free talk on Tuesday at the Overland Trail Museum, 511 N. Fort Street, by Sleeping Lion Mountain.
