From the Presidio County Appraisal District

PRESIDIO COUNTY — Section 11.43(h-1) Texas Property Tax Code, passed by the 88th Legislature and made Effective on 9-1-2023, now requires each residential property with a homestead exemption be confirmed by each county appraisal district that the property still qualifies for the homestead exemption once every five years.

The Presidio County Appraisal District has mailed out Homestead Audit letters dated December 6, 2024, to all property owners with last names beginning with letters A-M. The second set will be mailed in the fall of 2025 being letters N-Z. 

If you have a Homestead/+65 property tax exemption, we are requesting updated driver’s licenses for both property owners on record or new applications if needed. The deadline to file

was February 20, 2025. We have currently mailed out another SECOND audit letter for those

who have not filed, notifying PROPERTY owners that the exemption will be removed for 2025.
