All counts are unofficial until the government entities canvas the ballots.
A $9.9 billion bond election to fund improvements in Presidio ISD failed Saturday by just 21 votes — 269 to 248. A handful of other races were held, (winners in bold) including:
Alpine City Council Ward 1
Richard Portillo: 118
Austin Smith: 43
Andres “Andy” Ramos: 5
City council seats for wards 1 and 3 were up for election, but only the Ward 1 race saw enough candidates file to appear on the ballot. The Ward 3 City Council seat saw only one candidate file — previous building official Robert Rückes. Because he ran unopposed for the position, he was officially declared elected and the election was canceled.
Presidio ISD School Board
Three seats were up for election for the Presidio ISD School Board. The top three vote getters for the at-large board will be elected.
Jeremy Velasquez 336
Maria Loyola Montoya 331
Iris S. Galindo 257
Jose A. Padilla 207
