Anne Pitts Marozas

From Marfa Public Radio

MARFA –– Marfa Public Radio announced last week that Anne Pitts Marozas has been named the next executive director of Marfa Public Radio.

Pitts Marozas steps into this role following the remarkable tenure of Elise Pepple, whose eight years of leadership transformed Marfa Public Radio into a nationally recognized force in independent journalism, storytelling and local culture. Pitts Marozas reflects:

“It’s an incredible honor to inherit and deepen the meaningful work Elise led over the past eight years,” she said. “She cultivated a station that’s deeply rooted in the people, places, and stories that make this region so special. I’m excited to carry that legacy forward and help shape the station’s next chapter.”

Pitts Marozas brings nearly two decades of experience leading mission-driven organizations focused on community connection, philanthropy and civic engagement. As executive director of the Levitt Shell in Memphis, she transformed a historic amphitheater into a vibrant gathering place for shared experience through music. At City Leadership, she led equity-focused initiatives and advised the launch of a new community radio station — an experience that deepened her belief in the power of local media to reflect, connect and serve the full spectrum of a community’s voices. Pitts Marozas and her husband, Michael Marozas, have made Marfa their full-time home; he is the founder of the Marfa Yacht Club, a unique space for Airstream enthusiasts.
