FORT DAVIS — Last Wednesday, the Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County hosted the county’s monthly potluck for staff, fire department, and elected officials. The potluck provided an opportunity for local leaders and pantry staff to connect, share ideas, and strengthen community partnerships.
“This potluck embodies our motto, ‘Neighbors Feeding Neighbors,’ by bringing people together around a common table,” said Vicki Gibson, food pantry executive director.
The Food Pantry has plans and projects lined up through the summer to offer consistent nourishment to the children of Jeff Davis County, including:
- Daily nutritious snacks for Fort Davis ISD’s STEM Summer Camp
- The Pack-a-Lunch program for school-age food pantry clients provides a nutritious brown-bag lunch and a snack every single day of the year, including weekends, holidays, and summer
- The Kids Pantry at the Jeff Davis County Library with healthy, kid-friendly foods that any child can eat on site or take home for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snacks
