MARFA — It’s time for the annual Summer Shake-up restaurant extravaganza, Kid Cafe, presented by Marfa Public Library and Marfa ISD. The community is invited to stop by the library courtyard at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, to try the hottest (temporary) restaurant in town!
As part of Marfa Public Library’s Kid Cafe camp, the students visited three local restaurants — Coyote Coffee, Bitter Sugar and The Water Stop — for a behind-the-scenes peek at working kitchens. After visiting each restaurant, students returned to the library where they made their own recipes, taste-tested new foods, tie-dyed chef hats, and participated in a very-Marfa Nailed It! challenge.
The week culminates with students running their very own restaurant, the infamous Kid Cafe, where they will showcase their culinary masterpieces to the world. This year, they’re presenting waffles, egg bites, and watermelon agua fresca. Stop by at 11:30 a.m. to have a spectacular meal, made for and by kids! Free and open to all, and whipped cream cans WILL be on the dining tables.
