MARFA — The Marfa Lady Horns kicked off their volleyball season with a split in their home opener, earning one win and one loss. Marfa opened strong, defeating Fort Davis in four sets, before falling to Van Horn in straight sets, 0–3.
This year’s squad is under the direction of first-year head coach Osiris Alferez, who brings a wealth of experience as a former high school standout and NCAA Division II volleyball player.
The Lady Horns’ 14-player roster is anchored by four-year varsity starters Ava Flores and Raven Martinez. The talented duo continues to power Marfa’s offensive and defensive efforts and are determined to lead the team toward its deepest playoff run in years. Marfa now heads to Wink for tournament action beginning at 3 p.m., 6 p.m., and 7 p.m. on Friday, August 15.
