OJINAGA — On Tuesday, El Heraldo de Chihuahua reported that 11 members of La Línea — a criminal organization that operates in a “triangle” between Coyame, Ojinaga and Manuel Benavides in northeastern Chihuahua — were arrested as part of a state police operation. Twenty-one firearms were also seized, as well as 4,500 rounds of ammunition, 136 tire-deflating devices, five vehicles, 2.5 kilograms of marijuana and an array of tactical gear and equipment.

This raid, carried out on Monday afternoon by the Secretaria de Seguridad Pública Estatal (SSPE), comes almost exactly a year after the city was rocked by a series of violent clashes between factions of the criminal group that developed after its former kingpin, Sergio “El Menchaca” Pizarro was arrested in Presidio in 2023. In March of this year, Pizarro was sentenced to life in prison and ordered to pay a roughly $20 million fine to the United States.
