On Thursday, September 11, the Mexican Consulate in Presidio will host its annual “El Grito en el Mundo” party celebrating Mexican Independence Day. The office has a full day of activities planned starting at 4:30 p.m. with a game of lotería (prizes will be offered). A series of dance presentations will begin at 6:15 p.m. with Bailable COBACH from Ojinaga and Big Bend High School’s Folklórico troupe at 6:45 p.m.
Consul Gamaliel Bustillos will give remarks at 7 p.m., followed by more performances from Terlingua students and Presidio’s own Mariachi Santa Cruz. Presidio ISD’s Folklórico group will perform at 8 p.m. The traditional “grito” will take place at 8:45 p.m., and music group Proyecto D will play out the rest of the event, which ends at 10 p.m.
