Presidio VFD to host volunteer recruitment event and ruck march on 9/11

PRESIDIO — On Thursday, the Presidio Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting an all-day open house, giving tours and taking applications for folks interested in joining. The fire station is located near the pool and ballfields at 100 E FM 170. 

At 7 p.m., the department will cap off the day with its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ruck March, when volunteers don heavy firefighting equipment and march down O’Reilly Street in honor of the first responders who worked to save lives during the 2001 terrorist attacks. Firefighter gear will be available for members of the public who want to participate in the march.
