Hello cool people of Marfa! I thought I would reach out about the upcoming Shorthorn homecoming parade.
The homecoming parade is Thursday, September 25, at 6:30 p.m., and we would LOVE to have more local businesses, etc. participate.
Show up in a cool car, with a float, on a bike, on a horse, WHATEVER! The line up is at 6 p.m., with the students on the homecoming court going first. You can just show up if the spirit moves you! The line-up takes place in the high school parking lot in between the cafeteria and the high school. A longer parade is a better parade.

Texas HB 5066 authorized the PUC to work with ERCOT to develop three major transmission lines to extend to the far west Delaware Basin to provide future power demands to the oil and gas companies and the planned data centers.
The cost of the lines is going to be $33 billion. The transmission line companies will amortize that cost thru increased electric bills to all of the statewide consumers of electricity. Instead of spending $33 billion to construct the lines for the future demand, then why not build natural gas-fired power plants in the West Texas region that will utilize the millions of MCF of gas that oil and gas companies are currently flaring to the atmosphere on a daily basis.
If the natural gas-fired power plants were constructed to supply the future projected demand, then the average electric customer in Texas would not be on the hook for $33 billion in debt. And instead of wasting millions of MCF of gas, then that gas could be beneficially used to generate power. And the countless miles of scenic West Texas landscape would not be needlessly destroyed to supply the oil and gas industry and data centers with power.
Do we want your future electric bills to help pay off the $33 billion of needless expense? I think Governor Abbott should call a special session to overturn HB 5066.
