The only local race on the ballot is in Presidio County, with Measure A—approval or denial for the county to issue $5 million in certificate of obligation bonds to fund courthouse repairs, repairs to the county annex in Presidio, and road and bridge equipment.

Among the statewide propositions, two have garnered the most attention—increasing the homestead exemption on school property taxes from $100,000 to $140,000 and further exempting $60,000 for the elderly and disabled, thus creating a total $200,000 exemption for them if the other exemption measure passes. Another key proposition is approval of a $20 billion water supply and infrastructure package.
