Presidio County Clerk Carolina Catano is reminding everyone that applications for ballots by mail are now available and can be picked up at her courthouse office, which is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Applications for ballot by mail must be received by the clerk by February 20 for the March 3 primaries. March 3 is also the deadline for those ballots to be received. Applications can be given to the clerk by:

  • In-person delivery;
  • Regular mail;
  • Common or contract carrier; or
  • Fax (if a fax machine is available to the Early Voting Clerk)
  • Email (send a signed, scanned application as an attachment to an email to the early voting clerk)

Ballots by mail are for those 65 and over, the disabled (including illnesses that prevent in-person voting), pregnant women expecting three weeks before or after the election, those confined in jail or involuntarily civilly committed and those with an expected absence from the county.

You can also download an application with detailed instructions for applying (and identification requirements) by going to votetexas.gov. The site also includes information on registering to vote.

Also note that Monday, February 2, is the last day to register to vote. For more information locally, contact: carolina.catano@co.presidio.tx.us or at 432-729-4812.
