Fort Davis

Blood donors really are superheroes—ordinary people doing something extraordinary. Vitalant, a nonprofit founded in 1943, holds blood drives in Fort Davis, Marfa and Alpine throughout the year. The next blood drive in Fort Davis is only three weeks away—Thursday, March 5, 2026—at the Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 111 S. Agave Street. A team of medical personnel from Odessa will be on hand to take donations.

Please consider signing up to be a blood donor by calling Dr. Sherill Easterling at 325-207-6427 or call Vitalant at 877-258-4825.

Most of us know that donating blood saves lives. But it’s easy to forget just how many lives — and how many different kinds of people—depend on this quiet, everyday miracle.

Blood transfusions help cancer patients. They save children and adults injured in accidents, especially when organs like the spleen are damaged. They save older adults with bleeding ulcers or colon cancers. They save newborns who need to exchange transfusions for blood incompatibilities.

Anyone 17 years or older—or age 16 with a parent’s permission—can donate blood. All blood types are needed. It only takes an hour of your time, and each donor gets a T-shirt and great snacks to energize you later.
