For the second year in a row, the Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County has received a $20,000 matching grant from the Carl C. Anderson Sr. and Marie Jo Anderson Charitable Foundation of Dallas. The grant will match all individual donations made during April, dollar for dollar, up to $20,000.

The Matching Campaign will be a focus of the annual Harvest Bowl. As has been the tradition for years, volunteers will make an assortment of soups, salads and desserts. Musical entertainment will be by Todd Jagger and The Commissionaires. The Harvest Bowl will be held at the new JDC Community Center on April 18 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

The campaign will fund the Pantry’s Produce Plus program, which provides high-quality fruits and vegetables to families in Fort Davis, Valentine and Davis Mountains Resort.

The Food Pantry also provides healthy snacks to all students in Fort Davis ISD and Valentine ISD, as well as at the Kids Pantry at the Jeff Davis County Library. The Pantry receives no government funding and relies entirely on private donations. To donate go to foodpantry-jdc.org or mail a check to: Food Pantry of Jeff Davis County, PO Box 244, Fort Davis, TX 79734.
