A 76-year-old woman from Selma, Texas, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday after being struck by a car while crossing the street.
The pedestrian was hit by a 2022 Nissan sedan driven by a 59-year-old Alpine woman at the intersection of 7th Street and Avenue E at 12:30 p.m., said Alpine Police Captain Felipe Fierro.
Fierro called the incident an accident and said no charges were filed.
“She was walking eastbound at 7th and Avenue E, and the driver, according to the investigator, was going to pull out into the intersection and was looking left because it’s a one-way,” Fierro said.
“So, [the driver] didn’t see her crossing from the right side … and that’s when she struck the pedestrian,” Fierro said. He said the driver was injured but not seriously.
