Marfa
It’s time for the annual Summer Shake-up restaurant extravaganza, Kid Cafe, presented by Marfa Public Library and the Marfa Independent School District. The community is invited to stop by the library courtyard at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 18, to try the most acclaimed restaurant in history!
As part of Marfa Public Library’s Kid Cafe camp, the students visited three local chefs—Katy Kowal at Dirty Water Bagels, Mark Scott at Sawtooth Projects and Rebecca Bockelie at The Water Stop—to learn about chefs and working kitchens. After visiting each restaurant, students returned to the library where they made their own recipes, taste-tested new foods, and participated in a Nailed It! challenge.
The week culminates with students running their own restaurant, the infamous Kid Cafe, where they will showcase their culinary masterpieces to the world. This year, they’re presenting the Kid Cafe Cantina, where they’re serving quesadillas, homemade salsa, esquites in a cup, and horchata. Open to all, while supplies last, the kids will be making the food, serving the food, and rocking your world!
