I hear the political drumbeats attempting to ram these data centers down the throats of Texans all over the state. Please remember the most valuable thing we have going for us out here is our water table. We cannot drink data.
The job creation they are promising you is only in the construction phase. Once up, AI and a few engineers will run this thing. There is no long-term job or financial security with these data centers.
Lastly quantum computing is rapidly progressing and is predicted to be commercially viable within a few short years, which will render these data centers into a giant boondoggle waste of taxpayer money. Experts in the field say they won’t be needed with that level of computing. Please research these issues more conclusively.
I am a data analyst by trade. I love data. But even I don’t need or want this in my backyard. Please don’t spoil everything that we have going out here. Towns all over Texas are refusing them, and those unlucky communities that were first in have suffered a myriad of health and environmental problems in their wake. AI is going to take a lot from us going forward; we don’t owe it our very existence.
Sincerely,
Raina Dodson
