The Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Department has released the identity of a deceased individual found Monday morning on Highway 118, five miles South of Kent.
The deceased is Ricardo Garcia, 22, from El Paso, Texas, according to Chief Deputy Adriana Ruiloba.
The department is not releasing any more information, since an investigation is underway in coordination with the Texas Rangers. An initial Facebook post gave a couple more details:
“At approximately 8:00 a.m., the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a deceased individual located along Highway 118, approximately 5 miles south of Kent. The Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Office has requested assistance from the Texas Rangers, and both agencies are currently conducting an active investigation at the scene. At this time, the deceased individual has not been identified, and no additional information is available for release.” A subsequent post that day said the body was identified, but the department was waiting on notification of next of kin before releasing the name.
