Presented in partnership with MAINTENANT, Villa Albertine’s annual outdoor film series Films on the Green comes to Marfa from September 17 to September 27, 2026, showcasing French-American collaboration. (The first showing was last week.) The showings are free and open to all.
This year, Films on the Green arrives in Marfa for the first time, with three more evenings of open-air film screenings set against the striking landscapes of the West Texas desert. Under the stars and surrounded by Marfa’s singular atmosphere, the series will offer a unique cinematic experience celebrating French-American cinematic collaborations.

Femme fatale Florence Carala and her lover Julien devise a plan to murder her wealthy husband and stage it as a suicide. But when Julien becomes trapped in an elevator, their perfect crime begins to unravel, setting off a tense night of chance encounters, mistaken identities, and fatal consequences across Paris. Louis Malle’s striking feature debut is a masterful film noir, elevated by a legendary improvised jazz score by Miles Davis.
I Am Not Your Negro

Master filmmaker Raoul Peck envisions the book James Baldwin never finished, Remember This House. The result is a radical, up-to-the-minute examination of race in America, using Baldwin’s original words and a wealth of rich archival material. I Am Not Your Negro is a journey into Black history that connects the past of the Civil Rights Movement to the present #BlackLivesMatter movement. It is a film that questions Black representation in Hollywood and beyond. Ultimately, by confronting the deeper connections between the lives and assassinations of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr., Baldwin and Peck have produced a work that challenges the very definition of what America stands for.
