MARFA — November will bring to an end a site-specific residency hosted by Villa Albertine, the French Institute for Culture and Education. Titled Inhabiting the Desert, this program brings together five artists and thinkers to address the pressing challenges of preserving a livable world.

The residency has been developed in collaboration with Mathieu Potte-Bonneville, head of the Department of Culture and Creation at the Centre Pompidou, who has been visiting Marfa.

The five residents participating in the residency are:

  • Adèle Humbert: Producer and journalist
  • Alice Loumeau: Architect, artist and cartographer
  • Josefina Paz: Artist and researcher
  • Grégoire Schaller: Visual artist, choreographer and aesthetics researcher

No Country for Old Flag, a two-part performance by Grégoire Schaller related to the residencies will be held this weekend:

  • Part 1: Saturday, October 26 at 6:30 p.m, outside in the courtyard at Ballroom Marfa.
  • Part 2: Wednesday, October 30 at 6:30 pm., during the closing reception of the Villa Albertine residency at MAINTENANT.
