Mobile testing returns to Big Bend

TRI-COUNTY — As coronavirus case-counts pick up in the region, local officials have announced that the Texas National Guard is returning with more testing, including with stops in Marfa, Presidio, Alpine, Fort Davis and Terlingua.

Anyone interested in being tested can register online at or by calling 512-883-2400. People do not need to have experienced symptoms to receive testing, though health officials at the sites will ask people about whether they’ve experienced coronavirus symptoms.

The locations of all testing sites will remain the same, with testing available from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Alpine will have testing next Tuesday, June 23, at the North Brewster County Emergency Response Center at 102 South 2nd Street in Alpine.

Next Friday, June 26, Marfa will have testing at the Marfa Visitor Center at 302 South Highland Avenue. The City of Presidio will have testing the next day: Saturday, June 27, at the City of Presidio EMS and fire station on 100 East FM 170.

On Sunday, June 28, Fort Davis residents can receive testing at the Fort Davis Volunteer Fire Department building at 202 Court Avenue, right next to the Jeff Davis County courthouse.

Finally, Monday, on June 29, Terlingua will have testing at the South Brewster County Emergency Response Center at 23250 FM 170.

Again, residents do not need symptoms to be tested. Locations and hours for the testing sites remain the same.
