MARFA — Join Marfa Live Arts on Saturday, November 16, at the U.S.O. Marfa Visitor’s Center for Ándale a Marfa, which will bring people from Ojinaga and El Paso to dramatize events from the Mexican Revolution period as well as celebrate with songs played by Arturo Guerrero (Telemundo’s “La Voz”) and his mariachi band. November marks the 111th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution and Marfa played a key role during this important time in our border history.
Opening the show will be Ojinaga historian Victor Sotelo Mata, who will present ¿Por Donde Vino Villa Atacar Ojinaga? about Pancho Villa during the Mexican Revolution and how Marfa played a pivotal role. Marfa High School’s folklorico dancers will then take the stage, followed by Ojinaga actress Lydia Gallegos who will perform La Noche Fría, a monologue about the women of the Mexican Revolution. Closing out the night will be Arturo Guerrero and his four-piece mariachi band who will be playing songs from the Mexican Revolution.
This is a free event open to all. Tamales will be provided by Socorro Mena and beer provided by Cactus Liquor.
