FORT DAVIS — The Marfa Volleyball team achieved a historic milestone last Saturday afternoon, claiming their first district championship in nearly eight years with a four-set victory over Fort Davis on the road.
In a true display of resilience, the Lady Horns overcame multiple challenges, including illnesses and injuries, with players stepping up at critical moments. Raven Martinez, Itzel Urrutia, Loretta Rivera and Dariela Muñoz spearheaded the offensive attack, while Ava Flores led in assists and Zoey Salgado recorded a team-high in digs, anchoring the defense. Munoz had an all-round breakout performance for the Horns. With this hard-fought win, Marfa now looks ahead to their final district game against Sierra Blanca before heading into the playoffs.
This championship marks a major achievement for head coach Priscila Serrano, who secures her first district title in her four-year tenure at the helm of the program.
