Felipa Medrano Ramos, age 98 years, resident of Marfa, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by loving family members.
Felipa was born on May 1, 1926, in Marathon, Texas, to Sexito Ramos and Maria Medrano. After the death of her grandmother at age 14, Felipa came to live with her godparents, Anastacio and Juanita Valenzuela, in Marfa, and remained and cared for them until their passing.
Felipa was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and is remembered for her help and generosity to all her neighbors and friends. Felipa was an avid baker, her baked goods were a cherished addition to the many special occasions of family and friends throughout the years. Felipa was especially known for her viscochos, pochus, empanadas, cupcakes and homemade pastries as well as preserves and jams from the many fruit trees growing in her yard.
Felipa is survived by the children and grandchildren of Elidia Martinez, Beatrice Gonzales, Ramon Valenzuela, and Alfredo Valenzuela. Felipa was a very special person. Her love for God and faithfulness to our Lord has been a true example to her many nephews and nieces. She will be deeply missed.
Services will be held at 9 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Cementerio De La Merced.
