Elizabeth Valenzuela Lopez, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by her beloved family, after a lengthy battle with chronic kidney disease.

Born on May 12, 1948, in Marfa, Texas, Elizabeth was the cherished daughter of the late Ramon Quiroz Valenzuela and Elizabeth Robinson Valenzuela. She is survived by her sister, Yolanda Garza; her devoted husband, Lee Ramon Lopez; her daughter, Stephanie E. Keller; her son Aaron L. Lopez; her son Paul M. Lopez; her granddaughter, Rachel E. Keller; and her grandson, Lee R. Keller. She is preceded in death by her brother, Raymond Valenzuela.

At a young age, Elizabeth’s family relocated to San Antonio, where she pursued her education at Storm Elementary, Lowell Middle School, and Luther Burbank High School. She later earned her Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from Southwest Texas University and Our Lady of the Lake University. During this time, she married the love of her life, Lee R. Lopez, on June 11, 1972. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising their children.

Elizabeth dedicated her career to uplifting Hispanic children and mothers in her community, working as an educator in several elementary schools. Her passion led her to Avance, Inc., an organization devoted to empowering low-income Hispanic families through education and family support. Through her work with the organization and the Avance Ladies Group, she helped countless mothers and children, contributing to Avance’s growth across Texas and into California.

She was a devoted member of the Saint Gregory Catholic Church, an active participant in her children’s school PTAs, the Robert E. Lee High School Band Parent Organization, and a proud member of the Luther Burbank High School class reunions for over 55 years. She also found joy traveling alongside her husband, a Navy Hospital Corpsman, visiting military bases across the United States, as well as exploring Canada, Mexico, and England — until health concerns led to her early retirement.

Elizabeth was a radiant light in the lives of her family and community. She loved her family, parents, friends and co-workers in such a way that she will most certainly not be forgotten. Her love, kindness, and unwavering support touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed. May Elizabeth rest in peace.
