Elizabeth Granado Pineda, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, at Central Texas Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ballinger, Texas.
Elizabeth was born on June 17, 1958, in Marfa, Texas, to Faustino Pineda III and Delia Granado. Liz’s early education started at St Mary’s Parochial School in Marfa — kindergarten to first grade where she had her aunt Irene Pineda as her teacher in first grade. Liz graduated from Odessa High School, and obtained her medical assistant’s certification in El Paso and worked for a period of time in El Paso.
Liz moved back to her roots in Alpine, Texas, and graduated from Sul Ross State University on August 18, 1990, with her LVN certification. Liz worked all around the Big Bend from the Big Bend regional hospital in Alpine, to the rural clinics in Marfa and Presidio, Texas. Liz’s career expanded to working at the Odessa/Midland hospitals and nursing homes before moving and working in San Angelo her last years of her life. Liz loved working with the elderly. She found great joy in caring for the elderly and was known for her compassion and dedication. During her time as a resident at the nursing home in Ballinger, she often shared fond memories of her days working alongside those she cherished so deeply.
Elizabeth was known for her infectious laugh, playful sense of humor, and love for life’s little celebrations. Halloween was one of her favorite holidays, and she delighted in creating costumes for her beloved son Daniel, as well as her nieces and nephew. She always joined in the fun, never missing the chance to dress up right alongside them. A kid at heart, she carried a joy that touched all who knew her.
She also loved spending time in the kitchen. Whether baking Christmas cookies or preparing her famous country-style meals — fried chicken or chicken-fried steak with all the fixings — she poured love into every dish she made for her family. Liz also was an artist and enjoyed water-coloring. Her work she left behind will be cherished and a keepsake to nieces. Elizabeth’s kind and gentle heart, along with her laughter, will be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her son, Daniel Pineda.
Elizabeth is survived by her mother, Delia Granado Gallego from Midland, Texas; sisters, Nadine Mata from Sierra Vista, Arizona, Margarita Aktas from Odessa, Texas; and brother Johnny Pineda from Fort Stockton, Texas; along with 11 nieces, 6 nephews and extended family and friends who loved her dearly.
Elizabeth’s warm and loving spirit will be celebrated on October 4 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Fort Davis Texas. The Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. and Mass will follow at 10 a.m. Elizabeth’s ashes will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s cemetery.
